Jatiyo Rakkhi Bahini (Bengali- জাতীয় রক্ষী বাহিনী; English- National Defence Force) was an elite para-military force formed on the 8th instant of February, 1972 by the government led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by an order commonly known as ‘Jatiyo Rakkhi Bahini Act, 1972’ after the liberation war of Bangladesh. It was an auxiliary force of police which turned into a private army loyal only to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
