When Goliath was defeated by David his brother Lahmi attempted to get revenge and attacked David. David was saved by Elhanan, who then swore to always protect him. Elhanan's shield was transformed into unbreakable gold and David adopted it as his sigil. After Elhanan's death, the shield would appear to one of the 36 Tzadikim Nistarim, the secret guardians of the world. The modern Magen David is a teenaged Israeli girl named Zivah. She has taken up the fight to defend her people but keeps her identity and gender a secret.
