The show follows a trio of young monsters - the cowardly Ickis, the shapeshifting Oblina, and the incredibly smelly Krumm - attending the Institute For Monsters hidden below a landfill of New York City (implied to be Fresh Kills Landfill) under the tutelage of a headmaster named The Gromble, who is trying to teach his students how to scare the human world.
