The Battle of the Powers was the first battle to ever take place after the awakening of the elves. Maiar and other Spirits fought long and hard against one another, but eventually Morgoth was driven back to his fortress, Utumno and a guard was placed over Cuivienen. The forces of Aman were victorious over the forces of Melkor.
