Ies Bredell was a Vardaine scientist and former administrator of the Vardaine Science Council. In the late 2250s, Bredell was the leader of the anti-Federation faction on his planet and was also head of a covert plot to construct Constitution-class starships. In 2258, he attempted to overthrow the Vardaine Council, but the plot was exposed by James T. Kirk of the USS Farragut and he was dismissed from the Vardaine Science Council. Menao Sheme mentioned to Captain Kirk that Ies Bredell had a son, who was named Vas Bredell. No further details are known about his son.
