A transport force was a formation of the Imperial Navy commanded by a systems admiral. It was comprised of two troop squadrons, a heavy squadron, and a light squadron, for a total average of eighty starships. Although they were primarily employed to transport and deploy troops belonging to both the Imperial Army and Stormtrooper Corps to battle, the transport forces were used as command centers for coordinated ongoing surface operations.
