Saint Aladdin of al-Buqiyya (Majatran: قديس علاء الدين البقيّ Qiddīs ʻAlāʼ ad-Dīn al-Buqiyyi; Aldegarian: File:Alauddin-e mokaddas.png Alauddin-e Mokaddas) (859 – 943) is the patron saint and first official head of the Aldegarian Patriarchal Church (ER). He was a religious leader who is credited with first bringing Hosianism to Aldegar, during the Rostamid Dynasty. In 924 Aladdin baptized Zartosht III along with members of the royal court and upper class as Hosians. Zartosht III issued a decree by which he granted Aladdin full rights to begin carrying out the conversion of the entire nation to the Hosian faith. In his later years, Aladdin withdrew to a small sanctuary in Polran with a small convent of monks, where he remained until his death.
