Leonard Watts is a resident of Los Angeles. He was accused of robbing Claire Welton and two other women on 24 December 2011 in a crime spree that earned him the nickname The Bumper Car Bandit. He was later represented by criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller. When it became clear that Haller had made no dent in the prosecution's main witness, they staged a pre-rehearsed fight in order to force a mistrial. Jennifer Aronson took over Watts' case after that.
