After the dissolution of William Leonard's previous production company, Liam O' L. Studios, in 2012, he decided to resume producing shows independently. In July 2014, he created Parallel Sponge, an epic scifi drama about SpongeBob travelling through multiple alternate universes. Though the first ten Parts of the series were successfully produced independently, William felt that forming a high-quality production studio would greatly improve the series' quality. In January of 2016, Parallel Productions was founded. It was named after Parallel Sponge, which would become the studio's flagship series.
