Phone LUDs are records of calls made by a particular telephone. Local Usage Details refers to all local calls going in and coming out from a specific phone. Police can use this information to see if a suspect called someone, and how long they talked. These records can be obtained without a court order; police do not need a warrant. The records don't indicate anything about the content of the call. Transcripts and recordings of calls require police to tap the phone, which requires more evidence than a phone log.
