Level 5 is the first Catacombs-style level in the original Diablo. The player(s) reaches Level 5 after from a stairway in Level 4. Somewhere in Level 5 there is a stairway to Level 6. Upon entering Level 5, the character says, "The smell of death surrounds me". It features much less open space, a somewhat maze like layout and a much more gloomy atmosphere. Red Skeleton Archers and Stone Clan Archers will start appearing from this level on, so the player(s) should be on guard when traversing the hallways.
