Originally designed and built around converting Victory Mark I Star Destroyers the Victory Troopship was a much needed addition to Wild Star's fleet. Having only the Demise Troop Carrier and their other warships the Confederacy need a solid, every day ship that could transport mass amounts of troops, artillery and their support staff. The VSD's ability to enter atmosphere was the key proponent in choosing to convert, and later build, the Victory's instead of designing an entirely different vessel for what they were looking for.
