Hitomi Kanzaki and Van Fanel Hitomi first meets Van as he arrives on earth to carry out a mission to slay a dragon. At first, Hitomi and Van are antagonistic towards each other due to Van's rather sexist attitude. Hitomi and Van soon start to worry about each other and feel that the other needs their protection. Hitomi even shows Van how to spot an invisible enemy by dowsing. The series ends with both parties acknowledging and expressing their feelings towards each other.
