S. O. D. (which stands for “Stormtroopers of Death”) was the result of two members of Anthrax (Charlie Benante and Scott Ian), an ex-Anthrax member (Danny Lilker) and vocalist Billy Milano forming, which resulted in a very politically incorrect thrash metal band with some hardcore crossover tendencies. Upon getting together and getting smashed, the majority of the songs that were written during that hangover would make it onto the band’s debut of Speak English or Die, being mostly thrash metal with a sense of humor in the lyrics, along with most of the songs being very short in length.
