The jeweler whom Jadis robbed was a fat man. Jadis had stolen a rope of pearls and given the jeweler a black eye. When he complained about the robbery and battery at the Lampost outside of Digory Kirke's home (owned by the Ketterleys), a butcher's errand boy offered to sell him a raw beefsteak.
