The 17th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. It was organized in Madison, Wisconsin and mustered into federal service on March 15, 1862. The 17th Wisconsin fought in the Battle of Corinth, Grant's Central Mississippi Campaign, Battle of Port Gibson, Battle of Champion's Hill, Siege of Vicksburg, Atlanta Campaign, Carolinas Campaign, and the Battle of Bentonville.[citation needed] The regiment was mustered out on July 14, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.[citation needed]
