There were no teams promoted to the Czechoslovak Extraliga from the 1952-53 Regionální soutěže. Regional qualification championships were not played and no civilian teams ascended to the Extraliga. The only new teams added to the Extraliga, which was reduced in size from 21 to 18 teams, were the military clubs, Tankista Praha and Ruda hvezda Brno.
