Sinaloa was a province of the Empire of Mexico. Originally in the middle of the country's west coast, the CSA's purchase of Sonora and Chihuahua in 1881 gave Sinaloa an international border. During the 1930s Depression, many Sinaloans fled to Confederate Sonora in search of work in the CSA, which was marginally better off than its southern neighbor.
