Kyoden was a member of the Bloodspeaker cell who in 1111 kidnapped the pregnant Emperor's wife Hantei Hochiahime, and her son Hantei Sotorii. Kyoden was man who murdered the Hantei's wife after she had given birth to her child in 1112, an infant who would be known as Daigotsu. Hochiahime's son had been freed by the ronin Yotsu, replacing the boy with his own youngest son. The boy grew up and during his came of age he took Kyoden's name, as Goju Kyoden.
