The battle of Newport took place around Newport, Isle of Wight, United Kingdom. On the 24 April 1938, members of the 1st Parachute Division landed on the island. The local police force and the small division stationed on the island had a brief skirmish, which resulted in Seven British dead and the capture of the German parachute division.
