Tomsk is a zemlya in East Russia. Its capital city is Tomsk. The Sibirskaya Nuclear Power Plant, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk School of hydrology and Tomsk School of Economics were biult here in 1951, 1890, 1895 and 1950 respectively. The economy is based on nomadic heard farming, forestry, low level oil exstraction, peat digging, peasant farming and steel making. Tomsk Oblast is rich in natural resources, particularly oil, natural gas, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, peat, and underground waters. Tomsk oblast contains Vasyugan Swamp, the biggest natural swamp in the northern hemisphere.
