Tilottama is a Apsaras whose name in Sanskrit means higher/better seed. In one epic Brahma requests that Vishvakarman create her by using the best qualities of all things as the ingredients. She brought about the Asuras destruction and both Shiva and Indra were enchanted by her. Other legends however states that she was cursed to be born a demon princess and another about an ugly widow pre-birth.
