Within days, promoting economic revival and peace, the Communists manage to win the support of most of Germany, and the major businessmen flee to France, the UK or America. With the Communist Revolution over in just a few weeks, the new government, under Chairman Walter Ulbricht, soon goes about to nationalize industry, arrest opponents, and establish closer ties to the Soviet Union.
