Starbase 8 was a United Federation of Planets facility active during at least the 23rd century. It is located near Vulcan (planet). Starbase 8 has an Officer's Candidate School where Aristotle Enfield and Dale Coleman took courses to go from Enlisted to Officer. (Star Trek: The Intrepid Adventures)
