Captain Hanley was a 24th century Human, a career officer in Starfleet. In 2379, the Borg created an alternate reality which caused Hanley's command, the USS Maverick, to be destroyed. Once the Borg plot was reversed, he was returned to normal. (ST - Alien Spotlight comic: "Borg")
