A weatherscan was a type of scan for a region of space weather. In 2267, a weatherscan conducted by the meteorology department aboard the USS Enterprise detected an ion storm straight ahead of the starship. The weatherscan was thereafter mentioned by Captain James T. Kirk, while giving testimony to Commodore Stone at Starbase 11. (TOS: "Court Martial" )
