James Whitcomb was an old British inspector at the time of Jack the Ripper. He was approached by Superintendent Mallory, who sought help to solve the case of the Ripper. Whitcomb tracked down Jack and discovered that he was a vampire, like Whitcomb himself. However, Whitcomb killed Jack as he was drawing too much attention with his murders, thus making him a threat to all vampires who lived undercover.
