During his presidency, Petain dealt with the guerrilla French Resistance still active in the south of France, led by Charles de Gaulle. Petain was the subject of international anger when de Gaulle succeeded in stealing an ISOT-equipped ship from the spaceport in Vichy, forming the nucleus of the French Resistance space force, which quickly became a renowned organization of space pirates.
