Freddie King (Gilmer (Texas), 3 september 1934 - Dallas, 28 december 1976) was a bluesguitarist and singer. King, one of the "Three Kings" of blues guitar (along with Albert Kingand B.B. King ), was born in Gilmer, Texas in 1934. He moved with his family to Chicago in 1950where he began playing in local clubs. His instrumental Hide Away, recorded in 1961, was later covered by Eric Clapton and John Mayall. King had a strong influence on the blues rock musicians such as Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
