The Occupation of Earth refers to the two year period during which the Der'kal were in control of Earth, following their conquest of it in late 2010. In addition to destroying much of the existing infrastructure on the planet's surface, the occupational forces executed tens of thousands of innocents worldwide, hoping to discourage rebellion by the conquered Tau'ri. Unfortunately for them, though, the resistance to their rule was unrelenting, and while it failed to force an alien withdrawal on its own, it made holding onto Earth far more difficult than had been previous thought.
