Public Prosecutor is a position in the County Council. The office, like the other positions within the Council, is appointed by the Duke or Duchess at the beginning of the Council term. The Prosecutor receives reports of alleged wrong-doing, investigates the claims, and applies the laws of the County to the facts reported. The Prosecutor is responsible for launching legal proceedings in the Law Court - submitting first and second indictments per case - as well as calling witnesses to testify, as needed.
