Jimsonweed or, more properly datura stramonium, is a plant in the nightshade family. Although poisonous, it is also used in herbal medicine as both an anti-asthma treatment and as an analgesic. However, high doses can cause hallucinations and delerium and slightly higher than therapeutic doses can be fatal. An annual that is native to the Americas, it can now be found worldwide in any moderate or warm climate.
