The unnamed Band Leader conducted a small Salvation Army brass band in Coronation Street one Sunday morning in January 1965. Immediately before commencing their repertoire, the leader supped a pint in the Rovers where Albert Tatlock and Charlie Moffitt gave him their requests, including Over the Waves although he had grave doubts about the ability of the group he was conducting to play such pieces.
