In late 2373, under the command of Captain Sabrina Stuart, was ordered to intercept a Danube-class runabout stolen by the renegade Omega Squad after they fled Earth. The runabout tried to evade the Sagan, but was cut off from escaping with the assistance of the USS Bolivar. However, the capture proved short lived as both Federation starships were attacked by a Romulan Science-class vessel which knocked both ships' warp drives offline and their deflector shields failing. In the melee, the runabout seized the opportunity to take out the Romulan ships weapons. The Sagan was quickly able to establish warp power, but Stuart lied that the engines were still off-line and ordered the runabout to be out of sensor range by the time power had been restored.
