Portoris Bol was a thief. Aside from some limited contact with the Mecrosa Order, he did not associate with other Force-users. In 17 ABY he stole a cache of Sith artifacts and books from Dran Festow, a reclusive collector who lived on Umbara. He set out for Kothlis, unaware that he was a pawn in a much larger plan. 'Festow' did not exist as such; the cache was only partly genuine; his buyer didn't exist either; and he'd been manipulated into the theft in the first place. The whole setup was arranged by Velok and Ald Sorosel, who placed a bounty for the return of the cache in hopes that Darksiders would come out of the woodwork and chase Bol across the galaxy.
