From a mathematical perspective, chefs would need to be competent in the following areas of basic maths: 1.addition and subtraction 2.multiplication and division 3.fractions and percentages 4.ratio and direct proportion 5.weights and measurement 6.measuring time All the above skills would be needed to firstly cost a recipe per ingredient, weight each ingeredient, work out scale and ratio of ingredients, calculate cooking time of recipe.
