Probe droids have the most varied and utilitarian designs of any other droid. Some are equipped with repulsorlifts, hovering for transportation, while others have wheels or tank treads. The intelligence of probe droids tends to be drastically limited, and they have little to no personality. Most of the time they are just large enough to house the scanning equipment desired and the communications equipment to share its observations with those who own them.
