Artz was first elected to the National Assembly in 2010, and undertook a number of integral roles in the National Assembly Interior Affairs Committee. Artz was appointed Minister of Interior Affairs by Chancellor Stärk in February 2015, in Stärk's first Cabinet reshuffle. In her role in the Cabinet and the Ministry, Artz has overseen changes in the way Intolerance offenders are brought are dealt with by the Police, following the rapid increase in cases of 'radical preaching' by Christian fundamentalists.
