Tostag was a Dark Side adept and assassin in the service of the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Tostag viewed Darth Bane's Rule of Two as an outdated philosophy, believing that, since the Galaxy was effectively in the grasp of the Dark Side of the Force already, it would only be a logical course of action for a proper Sith Order to rise in force once more. However, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader refused to allow Tostag to bear the title of Sith, which frustrated him greatly.
