Esoma is the spoken language most used by the Estari, although it has become more commonly used in diplomatic communication with other species. It is believed to be descended from a mix of dialects and sub-languages that rose to prominence over a hundred thousand Waits before the modern era. As such, it is an ancient language and often seen by other species as hugely complex and difficult. The sound of Esoma is sometimes described as being like rapid, scrambled whispers. All Estari are required to learn to speak Esoma as a 'backup' audible means of communicating.
