The Timsonian Institute is a Federation research institute in Cluster Telpha-Z. It is a counterpart to the more famous Daystrom Institute; its mission is to examine, classify, and label technologies acquired for the Federation through trade and alliance. The Institute planned to launch an expedition to the Dyson sphere discovered by the USS Jenolen, but before it could do so, the sphere vanished in 2370. Professor Andrews worked at the Institute, and he was sent as its representative on a diplomatic mission to Kropasar in August 2375. (SCE eBook: The Future Begins)
