The Diet is comprised of 300 federal representatives elected by nationwide party-list proportional representation and 255 regionally elected representatives, which are elected on a state-by-state basis. Members are elected for a four-year term. The Diet has its seat in the Leineschloss in Hannover, a building which it shares with the Staattag of German Lower Saxony.
