Operation: LOOSE END was an operation in the early stages of the Remnant War, launched by the United Nations Space Command on November 22, 2553. The objective was to kill the warlord Jiralhanae Chieftain Loragus, leader of the Covenant remnant faction, Loragus's Covenant. This faction had established itself more quickly than other factions as a military power, and was responsible for several attacks on UNSC space as well as assaults on the True Covenant and Covenant Reborn. In retaliation for these attacks, the UNSC launched Operation: LOOSE END to kill Loragus and eliminate his Covenant as a threat. Although the objective was achieved and Loragus killed, it had several unintended consequences. The elimination of Loragus's forces as a coherent power stalled the attacks on Human territory,
