Fredericton is the capital of Canada's province, New Brunswick being located on the St John River which flows east to west across the city. It's population is approximately 80,000 people and is the third largest city in New Brunswick after Saint John and Moncton, New Brunswick. It is an important center of the arts, transportation and money. Fredricton has once been a French and English colony. Fredericton is located 113 km(70.5 miles) northwest of Saint John, 180 km(112 miles) west of Moncton, New Brunswick, 400 km(250 miles) northwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia and 600 km(365 miles) northeast of Quebec City, Quebec.
