The 2016–17 Iraqi Premier League will be the 43rd season of the Iraqi Premier League, the highest division for Iraqi association football clubs, since its establishment in 1974. The season is due to start on 15 September 2016. Al-Zawraa are the defending champions, having won their 13th title last season. Al-Hussein and Al-Bahri have entered as the two promoted teams from the 2015–16 Iraq Division One.
