Pabst Blue Ribbon is a pale lager sold by Pabst Brewing Company, which originated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. First sold in in 1844, Pabst was originally called Best Select (with a can opener) and then Pabst Select. The current name comes from the blue ribbons that were tied around the bottle neck, a practice that ran from 1882 until 1916 after it won the title of "America’s Best" at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Pabst is now based in Los Angeles, CA and is contract-brewed by six different breweries around the United States.
