The mountains north of the Kingdom of Noland are known as "The Giant's Stairway". The North Mountains are so high that they seem to pierce the clouds. It is said that the moon often stops to rest on the highest peak. Rather than a single slope from the lowlands, "The Giant's Stairway" consists of several steep rises and broad, flat plateaus. Many people have climbed to the first plateau where flocks of sheep feed on the plain. A few have climbed the second steep, but no one has ever climbed higher than that.
