Soul Candy are simply basic artificial spirits that operate a gigai while its wearer is outside of it, allowing the gigai to reach safety during a battle so that it is not damaged. A Mod Soul is a special type of artificial spirit that has enhanced abilities, such as powerful kicks or speed, which were created with the intention of being placed in dead bodies to use as battle tools. This idea was abandoned and most of the mod souls destroyed.
