The art of unrelated link commenting originated when Jake figured out that LUELinks are a hive mind. As the SAGuys got into the practise of 10ing each other's links as soon as they were uploaded, they also began making comments on the link that had nothing to do with the link in hand. This fine tradition has been upheld ever since.
