An impulsive goddess of Japanese mythology, Amaterasu sent her to defend the vessel that carried Empress Jingu to Shinra. As the Ara Mitama of the Sumiyoshi, she is enshrined at the Sumiyoshi Shrine in the city of Shimonoseki.
